Notes on the Tigers
LSU was led at the plate in the Georgia series by junior centerfielder Mikie Mahtook, who hit .455 (5-for-11) in three games with two homer and four RBI ... Mahtook's two-run homer on Friday in Game 1 of the series broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning and proved to be the game-winning hit in the Tigers' 7-3 victory ... for the entire four-game week, Mahtook batted .438 (7-for-16) with two homers, four RBI and five runs scored ... Mahtook is hitting .365 on the year with six doubles, one triple, 26 RBI and an SEC-best eight home runs ... freshman right-hander Kurt McCune fired a complete-game six-hitter on Friday to lead the Tigers over Georgia ... McCune, in his first career SEC road start, limited Georgia to three runs on six hits with one walk and seven strikeouts as he recorded the first complete game of the season by an LSU pitcher ... McCune's outing marked the first complete game by a Tigers' hurler since May 29, 2010, when Ben Alsup recorded a complete-game victory over Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament ... shortstop Austin Nola batted .400 (4-for-10) in the Georgia series with one double, three RBI and two runs scored ... Nola hit .357 (5-for-14) for the entire four-game week with one double, three RBI and two runs ... designated hitter Raph Rhymes batted .375 (6-for-16) in the Tigers' four games last week with one RBI and one run scored ... freshman right-hander Ryan Eades turned in a strong relief outing Sunday at Georgia in Game 2 of the doubleheader, as he fired three scoreless innings and limited the Bulldogs to three hits.
