BATON ROUGE - While the LSU Track & Field teams are still nine days from kicking off their 2013 indoor season, the Lady Tigers have received their share of recognition in the preseason as Track & Field News named them the No. 1-ranked women's indoor collegiate dual-meet team on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers were honored as the top-ranked team ahead of SEC rival and No. 2-ranked Texas A&M, No. 3-ranked Kansas, No. 4-ranked Nebraska and No. 5-ranked Arkansas.

Track & Field News considered only squads competing in at least one dual meet during the indoor season when compiling its preseason dual-meet rankings, using its definition of a dual meet as a scored meet between four or fewer teams. Rankings will be kept for a combined indoor and outdoor season.

The Lady Tigers will join SEC rivals Texas A&M and Arkansas in what is sure to be the most competitive dual meet of the indoor season in two weeks when they compete at the Texas A&M Tri-Meet on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas. The meet is likely to determine the women's indoor dual meet champion, according to Track & Field News.

The publication will release its men's indoor collegiate dual meet rankings on Wednesday, Jan. 8, while it will next update the women's rankings on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
