BATON ROUGE - Members of the LSU women's cross country and track and field teams took time out of their training schedule to visit children at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital last Friday afternoon in Baton Rouge.
The teams went from room-to-room to visit with patients and their families. The Tigers took pictures, signed autographs and answered questions about their sport.
"I think the kids really enjoyed having company," said junior runner Laura Aleman. "I like to go visit them to be able to give them someone to talk to for a little while."
Along with spending time with the children, the student-athletes brought LSU athletic posters for the patients to hang in their rooms as decoration.
The men's and women's cross country teams will kick off their season Saturday, September 15 when they compete in the Commodore Classic held in Nashville, Tennessee.
