BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the third straight season LSU junior gymnast Lloimincia Hall captured the Southeastern Conference floor exercise title, and the second-ranked Tigers placed third overall with a 197.325 in SEC Championship Session II Saturday night in BJCC Arena.

Hall dazzled on floor to earn a 9.95, the highest score on the event, as she tied with Florida’s Kytra Hunter and Alabama’s Diandra Milliner.

Hall became the first Tiger to win three floor titles in a career. Coming into the meet she was tied with LSU greats Sandra Smith and Ashleigh Clare-Kearney who each won two SEC floor titles during their careers. Smith won the floor titles in 1981 and 1982, and Clare-Kearney won in 2008 and 2009.

LSU (15-5) finished in third place for the second straight season as the Tigers tallied a meet-high 49.525 on vault, a 49.350 on bars, a 49.100 on beam and a 49.350 on floor.

No. 4 Alabama (17-3) won the team title with a 197.875, while No. 1 Florida (15-2) finished second with a 197.700. No. 6 Georgia (10-8) placed fourth with a 197.150.

In Session I earlier on Saturday, No. 12 Auburn tallied a 195.550 to finish fifth. Kentucky came in sixth with a 195.075, while No. 16 Arkansas finished seventh with a 194.900 and Missouri was eighth at 194.650.

The 197.325 extended the LSU record to 10 straight meets with at least a 197 score, and the score also ranked as the second-best team total at an SEC Championship in program history.

“We weren’t composed throughout the meet,” LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. “In this kind of meet your best kids have to be their best, and I think they were trying too hard and did not stay relaxed.

“It will be a different environment in this building for nationals, so we have to get back in the gym, work hard and get ready to perform at a higher level.”

In the first rotation LSU opened the meet on bars with a 49.350, a score that ranks as the third-highest total in school history at the SEC Championship. Sarie Morrison led the team with a 9.90, followed by 9.875s from Jessie Jordan and Britney Ranzy. Rheagan Courville, Kaleigh Dickson and Randii Wyrick all added 9.85s.

LSU followed with a 49.100 on beam, led by a 9.90 from Courville and a season-high tying 9.85 from freshman Sydney Ewing. Ashleigh Gnat posted a 9.825, while Hall led off the event with a 9.80 and Dickson provided a 9.725.

The Tigers earned a 49.350 on floor in the third rotation, highlighted by Hall’s 9.95 in the anchor spot. Jessica Savona tallied a 9.90, and Courville and Dickson added 9.85s. Jordan recorded a 9.80 to round out the scoring.

LSU tied for the highest vault total of the championship with a 49.525, led by Jordan’s outstanding stuck vault that scored a career-high tying 9.95. Courville earned a 9.925, and Dickson and Morrison scored 9.90s. Gnat posted a 9.850, and Ranzy registered a 9.825.

The Tigers return to the Maravich Center to host the NCAA Regional that will feature LSU and five other teams who will vie for a berth in the NCAA Championships. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. CT on April 5, and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.LSUtix.net.

LSU will find out on Monday who will join the Tigers in the Baton Rouge regional that serves as the first round of the NCAA postseason.
