RALEIGH, N.C. - In the final competition before the SEC Championship, the fifth-ranked LSU gymnastics team knocked off North Carolina State, 196.925-196.050, Friday night in Reynolds Coliseum.

LSU improved to 10-4 on the season by scoring a 49.350 on vault, 49.200 on bars, 49.100 on beam and 49.275 on floor to finish with a 196.925.

Sarie Morrison tied for the bars title with a 9.875, marking her 10th bars crown in 11 meets this season. Lloimincia Hall won her eighth floor title of the year with a 9.90.

"NC State pushed us tonight and we had to shuffle some people in the lineup unexpectedly, so I'm proud of the kids for fighting through it," LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. "The kids came out a little tentative tonight, but I know we are going to go into this next week and put forth great effort as we prepare for the SEC Championship."

LSU opened the meet with a 49.200 on bars, highlighted by 9.875's from Courville and Morrison. Randii Wyrick scored a 9.85 while Kaleigh Dickson and Britney Ranzy added 9.80's to the Tigers' team total.

LSU grabbed the lead after the second rotation, 98.550-98.100, with a 49.350 on vault. Courville led the Tigers with a career-high tying 9.95 to win the event title. Randi Lau stuck her vault for a 9.90, and Jessie Jordan tallied a 9.875. Britney Taylor earned a 9.85, and Ranzy provided a 9.775 to close out the Tigers' scoring on vault.

After three rotations LSU led NC State 147.825-147.150. The Tigers posted a 49.275 on floor to counter the Wolfpack's 49.050 on beam. Lloimincia Hall led LSU with a 9.90 in the anchor spot followed closely by Courville with a 9.875. Dickson and Taylor both recorded a 9.85, and Jordan scored a 9.80 to round out the last counting score.

LSU showed fantastic resilience in the last rotation after Ericka Garcia suffered a fall to score a 9.225. The next five Tigers all hit to preserve the LSU victory as the Tigers finished with a 49.100 on beam. Taylor and Dickson followed Garcia with matching 9.80's. Hall tallied a 9.825, Courville earned a 9.85 and Jordan anchored with a 9.825 to conclude the meet.

NC State fell to 11-8-1 as the Wolfpack suffered their first home loss of the season, but the 196.050 marked a season high.
