BATON ROUGE - For the second time this season, LSU gymnast Lloimincia Hall earned SEC Freshman of the Week recognition as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Hall was an integral part in LSU's 196.550-194.875 victory over No. 20 North Carolina State on March 2 when she captured her second all-around title of the season with a 39.425, just .025 off her season high.
She tied the nation's top floor score with an electrifying 9.975 to cap LSU's victory, and it marked her fifth title this season in the event. Hall became only the 10th gymnast in LSU history to score a 9.975 or higher on floor exercise and the first since Maliah Mathis did it as a freshman last season against Georgia.
Hall finished second in the meet on beam with a 9.85, and she finished third on bars with a 9.825. Her bars and beam scores were both .025 shy of her season-high marks.
The Dallas, Texas native also won SEC Freshman of the Week after she secured her first all-around title against Auburn on Jan. 13.
LSU leads the conference with five SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season, and this marks the second time this year LSU has received the honor in consecutive weeks as Rheagan Courville won the award last week for her performance against Alabama.
The Tigers also earned back-to-back freshman of the week honors after meets against Georgia and Kentucky when Jessie Jordan and Courville received the distinction, respectively.
No. 9 LSU returns to action Friday at 7 p.m. CT when the Tigers travel to Iowa City to face the Iowa Hawkeyes in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Fans can listen to the meet for free in the Geaux Zone at www.LSUsports.net/live.
