BATON ROUGE - Philip Ogletree has taken an assistant coach position at a Southeastern Conference school, LSU gymnastics coach D-D Breaux confirmed Thursday.

Ogletree served as LSU's uneven bars coach and recruiting coordinator for 12 seasons from 2001-12.

"Before he came to LSU, Philip coached age group kids that we recruited, and they were fundamentally sound in their gymnastics," Breaux said. "He worked our camp and we liked him, so we brought him on board. Philip has really grown and matured well as a collegiate coach during his time at LSU, and he did a great job for us. To be able to go back to his home state is very exciting, and I am confident he will do a great job."

Ogletree came to LSU after spending the previous season as club coach at the Georgia Gymnastics Academy. While at LSU, the Tigers achieved back-to-back NCAA Super Six Finals appearances in 2008 and 2009, seven NCAA individual national titles and five NCAA Regional titles.

Ogletree earned NCAA Central Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2004 and 2005.

Breaux said a search will begin immediately for a new assistant coach.
