ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - As the No. 8-seeded Tigers prepare for Monday's match against the No. 9-seeded Ole Miss Rebels in the first round of the SEC Women's Soccer Tournament, LSU freshman Jade Kovacevic has been selected an All-Southeastern Conference performer as one of the SEC's elite athletes in a vote of the league's 14 head coaches announced Monday afternoon.

Kovacevic has been honored by the conference as both a Second-Team All-SEC selection and member of the SEC All-Freshman Team in the wake of an outstanding rookie campaign with the Tigers.

This marks the ninth-straight season in which at least one LSU Tiger has been recognized as an all-league performer as Kovacevic is the sixth true freshman in program history to earn either a first-team or second-team All-SEC selection. She joins Ashley Mitnick (1999), Artie Brown (2001), Stephanie Keating (2002), Melissa Clarke (2005) and Chelsea Potts (2006) as LSU's freshman honorees.

A native of Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, Kovacevic has made an immediate impact on the program with her performance on both ends of the field this year while playing as an attacking midfielder and right back in LSU's starting lineup since making her collegiate debut against Houston on Sept. 2.

Kovacevic is tied as the team's leading scorer with 12 points on the year as she has scored three goals and dished out a team-leading six assists in her 16 starts on the campaign.

All six of her assists have come against SEC opponents as she finished the 2012 regular season tied as the league's leading assist maker in 13 conference games. In fact, she assisted game-winning goals in two 1-0 shutouts against Mississippi State on Sept. 28 and Vanderbilt on Oct. 7 during SEC play. Two of her three goals were also scored in league play as she finished with 10 points against SEC opponents.

Kovacevic was a welcomed addition to the LSU squad in September after representing her country at the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Japan this summer as a member of the U-20 Canadian Women's National Team.

Kovacevic is the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week as the No. 8-seeded Tigers prepare to battle the No. 9-seeded Ole Miss Rebels in the opening round of the 2012 SEC Women's Soccer Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala., on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
