BATON ROUGE - Not only has LSU senior Taryne Boudreau been honored as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, but she also received her second-straight selection to the Soccer America Women's National Team of the Week following Wednesday's announcement.
Boudreau has been named to the Soccer America Women's National Team of the Week once again as she has helped lead the Tigers to the top of the SEC table with a perfect 4-0 mark and 12 points.
She has also helped lead the Tigers to a six-game winning streak and nine-game unbeaten streak while the team has posted a 9-3-1 overall record to this point of the 2011 campaign. The Tigers are now 8-0-1 in the last month dating back to a 2-1 road win at Houston on Sept. 6.
Her selection on Wednesday is the third time in the last four weeks that an LSU Tiger has been picked for the Soccer America Women's National Team of the Week after redshirt freshman defender Jodi Calloway was the first recognized by the organization back on Sept. 14.
A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Boudreau has certainly proven herself this fall as the SEC's most prolific scorer to open league play. She accounted for both goals in a crucial 2-1 win by the Tigers over the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at the LSU Soccer Stadium as they wrapped up the match in sole possession of first place in the overall SEC standings with 12 points.
Boudreau provided the primary assist on LSU's first goal of the match by junior Carlie Banks in the ninth minute of play before scoring the game-winning goal for the Tigers in the 17th minute with a left-footed strike from about 12 yards out for her team-leading eighth goal of the season and fifth goal in league play.
Boudreau has now scored the game-winning goal in three of four SEC victories by the Tigers to begin the conference season. She is the league's leading scorer in SEC play as she has scored a conference-best five goals and dished out two assists for league-high 12 points over the last two weekends.
For the season, Boudreau has netted eight goals and four assists for 20 points as LSU's leading scorer this fall as she has already set new career highs for goals and points scored in a single season.
She has guided the Tigers to the top of the SEC standings as they are the league's only squad to secure 12 points from the first four matches in conference play. Auburn and Florida currently sit three points back in a tie for second place overall with nine points, while Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee have each secured six points to trail the Tigers in a tie for fourth place overall.
