BATON ROUGE – The LSU Tigers have matched the defending SEC Co-Champions from Texas A&M with a league-leading five selections to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-SEC Women’s Soccer Teams that were announced Friday morning as the start of the season is now just two weeks away with a home match against the Troy Trojans on Aug. 22.

Midfielder Emma Fletcher, who is currently in Canada’s starting 11 in the group stage at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, has earned a preseason First-Team All-SEC selection by College Sports Madness after an outstanding rookie campaign with the Tigers in 2013. She earned Second-Team All-SEC honors in a postseason vote of the league’s head coaches a year ago.

Fletcher’s record-setting rookie season with the Tigers featured an SEC-leading 12 assists on the campaign that established a new LSU freshman record, including a league-best eighth assists in SEC play.

Striker Summer Clarke and midfielders Alex Arlitt and Fernanda Pina have both been named preseason Second-Team All-SEC selections by College Sports Madness in Friday’s announcement.

Clarke, the team’s leading goal scorer a year ago with 10 goals during her debut season, joined Fletcher as a Second-Team All-SEC performer by the league’s head coaches following the regular season last fall. Arlitt and Pina are expected to repeat as Second-Team All-SEC performers as both were named second-team selections by College Sports Madness in a postseason release by the online publication in 2013.

Heralded Class of 2014 recruit Jorian Baucom has also been recognized by College Sports Madness as its preseason pick as the SEC Freshman of the Year for the 2014 season. A five-star recruit from Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Arizona, Baucom was also recently named among the 11 freshmen nationwide to the Preseason Freshman Best XI Team released on Wednesday.
