BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team had four players pick up honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) highlighted by Theresa Plaisance’s second straight selection as the state’s top player. The LSWA awards are voted upon by the state’s media representatives and school’s media relations directors.

Plaisance is the fourth player in program history to garner the LSWA Player of the Year award multiple times during her career. She joins the illustrious company of Seimone Augustus (2004, 2005, 2006), Sylvia Fowles (2007, 2008) and Allison Hightower (2009, 2010). Plaisance extended LSU’s run to nine of the last 10 seasons with the LSWA Player of the Year recipient, and she also secured All-LSWA First-Team honors.

Plaisance pumped in 15.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. All three marks were ranked inside the SEC’s Top 11. She connected for a 42.4 field goal percentage which was 10th and a 73.6 free throw percentage which was ninth on the SEC’s leaderboard. Plaisance produced six of her seven 20-plus point performances versus SEC opponents sparked by a career-high 29 points at Georgia. The New Orleans native is one of 18 players to collect over 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds.

Raigyne Moncrief captured LSWA Freshman of the Year accolades after she came away with a balanced 10.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She racked up a season’s best 27 points against Rutgers en route to Barclays Invitational MVP. The 1.8 steals per game were first among league freshmen and seventh overall in the SEC.

Danielle Ballard and Jeanne Kenney tallied All-LSWA Third-Team honors. Ballard boosted her season marks to 10.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game after three double-doubles which featured a trio of 20-plus point efforts during the NCAA Tournament. Her 23.3 points per game was ninth in NCAA action. Kenney registered 11.3 points and 3.5 assists per game. She wrapped her career with 137 three-pointers and 372 assists which finished seventh and 10th on LSU’s all-time lists.

LSU has secured three consecutive 20-plus win seasons and three NCAA Tournament appearances under head coach Nikki Caldwell. The Lady Tigers were ranked No. 24 in the season-ending edition of the USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll. The last time LSU was ranked during back-to-back seasons was the program’s 2007 and 2008 NCAA Final Four campaigns.
