Notes on the Tigers
No. 19 LSU was handed a 73-57 loss by SEC frontrunner and No. 5 South Carolina in its lone game last week. The Lady Tigers have dropped back-to-back games for the first time all season and head into the final four games of the regular season with an 18-7 overall record and a 7-5 mark in SEC play. LSU sits in a fourth-place tie with Florida and Kentucky in the SEC standings. Five of the six losses for the Lady Tigers have come against Top 25 opponents. For the season, Theresa Plaisance has turned in a team-leading 14.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Her 14 points during the South Carolina game ran her streak to 15 straight games in double figures. It also enabled her to move into 24th place on LSU’s all-time scoring list. Jeanne Kenney registered 10 of her team-leading 15 points in the second half versus South Carolina. She has garnered 15 points six times on the season and has buried 119 career three-pointers, one shy of moving into a seventh place tie in program history. Kenney has chipped in 11.0 points and 3.6 assists per game. Raigyne Moncrief had her run of four consecutive games in double figures come to a close against South Carolina. Her 11.3 points per game are ranked fourth among SEC freshmen. Danielle Ballard came away with 10 points versus South Carolina and has collected double figures in five of her six SEC appearances on Sunday. Off the bench, DaShawn Harden and Rina Hill combined to score 10 of LSU’s 12 bench points during the South Carolina game. This week, LSU travels to Georgia [Thursday – 6 p.m.] before returning home to face Arkansas [Sunday – 1 p.m.].
