Nominee for SEC Player of the Week

Theresa Plaisance, F, 6-5, Sr., New Orleans, La.
Plaisance posted 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over the week. She equaled a season-high with 19 points as the Lady Tigers stopped Florida’s SEC-long nine-game winning streak and handed the Gators their first SEC loss of the season. She tallied 15 of her 19 points during the second half on 5-of-6 shooting and a flawless 5-for-5 effort at the foul line. Plaisance nearly brought LSU back from a nine-point hole against Texas A&M. She pumped in 10 of her 16 points in the second half versus the Aggies. Plaisance has tallied 10-plus points in six consecutive games and accounted for four straight 15-plus scoring performances.

Notes on the Tigers
LSU split its home games against Texas A&M and Florida to move its record to 13-3 overall and 2-1 in SEC action. The Lady Tigers bounced back from season-lows with 15 field goals and a 26 percent shooting clip during the Texas A&M game. LSU connected for 32 field goals and 44 percent shooting ratio against Florida. The Lady Tigers stopped Florida’s SEC-best winning streak at nine games and picked up their first win over the Gators since the 2010-11 season. Theresa Plaisance sparked LSU’s offense with 17.7 points per game. She has racked up six straight 10-plus scoring performances and tied her season-high with 19 points versus Florida. Danielle Ballard and Jeanne Kenney tacked on 9.5 points per game apiece. Ballard compiled her first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds during the Florida game. The 12 rebounds also were a season-best for Ballard. Kenney dished out a career-high 10 assists against Florida. Shanece McKinney chipped in 6.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She registered 10 points and seven rebounds versus Florida, her first double figure scoring effort since the Indiana State game on Dec. 3. From the bench, DaShawn Harden provided 7.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She teamed with Sheila Boykin for 16 of LSU’s 22 bench points during the Florida win. LSU hits the road for its only two-game SEC road swing of the season against Missouri [Thursday – 7 p.m.] and Vanderbilt [Sunday – 1 p.m. on FSN/SportSouth].
