BATON ROUGE -- LSU women’s basketball head coach Nikki Caldwell has received a National Letter of Intent from Rina Hill, a 5-foot-7 point guard from Nagoya-Shi, Japan, as part of the NCAA regular signing period on Wednesday.

Hill comes to LSU as a standout guard at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. While at the prep school, she led the team to a 38-8 overall record this season. Hill was a member of the Japan U18 National Team, which finished second at the Asian World Championships. She attended high school in Japan prior to attending prep school at IMG Academy.

“Rina will bring great leadership to our team and she is student of the game,” said Caldwell. “She is a hard-working player with outstanding court vision. She is also a great student in the classroom.”

Hill joins a talented LSU signing class that includes Raigyne Moncrief, a 5-foot-10 guard from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jasmine Rhodes, a 5-foot-10 wing player from Mobile, Ala. Moncrief and Rhodes signed with the Lady Tigers during the early period in November.

Moncrief, who is attending American Heritage High School (Fla.), is ranked the No. 18 high school player in America by ESPN Hoop Gurlz. Rhodes led Faith Academy in Mobile, Ala., to a Class 5A state championship in March and was named Class 5A MVP in the process.
