BATON ROUGE - In less than two weeks, "March Madness" returns to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center as LSU plays host to the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds on March 24 and 26. All-session ticket books, single-session tickets and group tickets are now on sale at www.LSUtix.net.
Fans can also purchase tickets at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office on the first floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building or by phone at (225) 578-2184. All-session ticket books for adults are $25 and $15 for youth. That price includes a ticket of admission to both first round contests and the second round game.
In addition, single-session tickets, allowing admission into either both first round games or the second round game only, are now on sale. Single-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth. If your purchase 10 or more tickets, tickets are available for only $5 apiece.
LSU students are admitted free of charge to the games with a valid LSU ID.
Games will be played at the Maravich Center on Sunday, March 24 at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. CT. Tuesday's second round game on March 26 will tip at 8:30 p.m. CT. The NCAA Tournament field of 64 will be unveiled in exactly one week on Monday, March 18 at 6 p.m. CT live on ESPN.
Parking permits used during the 2012-13 regular season will not be valid for entry to any parking lots for the NCAA Tournament. All parking held for the event is for official use only. Fans may park for free in all areas not held for official use.
LSU (20-11) is seeking a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Nikki Caldwell. The Lady Tigers finished the season as one of the nation's hottest teams, winning seven of their last eight contests, including three games over top-15 ranked teams. LSU boasts 20 overall wins, 10 victories in Southeastern Conference regular season play and an official NCAA RPI in the top 35, which is used for seeding purposes.
LSU features All-SEC forward Theresa Plaisance, SEC All-Freshman guard Danielle Ballard and second-team All-SEC guard Adrienne Webb. Plaisance ranked second in the SEC in scoring (17.4 ppg) and she led the league with 82 blocks. Ballard has tied the LSU single-season record for steals with 93, and Webb is one of the SEC's top scorers with 14.1 points per game.
Since the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament was expanded to its current 64-team format, LSU has played host to first-and-second round games seven times. Last year, the Lady Tigers hosted for the first time since 2009, defeating San Diego State in the first round before losing to Penn State in the second round.
LSU also served as a host site for first-and-second round games in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2009. The Lady Tigers are 14-3 all-time in NCAA Tournament games played in Baton Rouge. That record dates back to LSU's first hosting opportunity in 1984.
