LSU used a solid defensive effort to blowout Xavier of Louisiana, 75-34, in its first exhibition game on Thursday. All five Lady Tiger starters recorded double-digit scoring, including a game-high 18 points from senior guard Adrienne Webb. The Gold Nuggets shot only 24.1 percent, but Webb said the Lady Tigers could be better from a rebounding standpoint.

"We want to continue to carry over what we have done in practice this week into the game," said Webb. "We didn't do so well boxing out in the first game and that led to second-chance points."

Head coach Nikki Caldwell is expected to go with the same starting lineup as the first exhibition, one that included Webb, Jeanne Kenney, Bianca Lutley, Theresa Plaisance and Shanece McKinney. The Lady Tigers will have a full roster of 10 players on Tuesday as freshmen Danielle Ballard, Kuaneshia Baker and Derreyal Youngblood return after serving a one-game suspension.

"Danielle Ballard is a crafty scorer," said Webb. "She knows how to get open, get around the defense and get other people open."

North Alabama, a member of the Gulf South Conference in NCAA Division II, returns six letterwinners from a team that went 15-13 last season. The Lions were defeated by Tennessee State, 69-58, in its lone exhibition on Nov. 1.

LSU officially opens the season against Wichita State at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Maravich Center. Doors to the Maravich Center open at 1 p.m.
