BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the third time this season, LSU guard Danielle Ballard has been recognized as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after leading the Lady Tigers to a 2-1 record last week, the league office announced Monday morning.

Ballard combined for 57 points, 24 rebounds, nine steals, six assists and one block in LSU's games against New Orleans, Ole Miss and Florida. She leads all SEC freshmen in scoring with 15.2 points per game and is also tops among freshmen in 20-point scoring games with five.

Ballard shot a season-best 83.8 percent (10-of-12) while scoring 20 points in a win over UNO. She followed that up with her first career double-double in leading LSU to an 84-79 SEC- opening win over Ole Miss. She scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds to go along with four assists and two steals.

On Sunday at Florida, Ballard contributed 13 points - her sixth straight double-figure scoring game - with five rebounds and two steals.

Ballard also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Nov. 26 and Dec. 24. Her three SEC Freshman of the Week awards are the second-most by an LSU player since the award began in 2006. LaSondra Barrett won a school-high four SEC Freshman of the Week honors in 2009.

For the season, Ballard ranks seventh overall in the league in scoring, seventh in field goal percentage (48.4) and second in steals (3.1). Her five 20-point games are the most by an LSU freshman since Seimone Augustus had nine during the 2002-03 season.
