BATON ROUGE - LSU Sports Properties and Guaranty Broadcasting announced on Friday that LSU Men's Basketball will return to Eagle 98.1 FM as its Baton Rouge flagship starting with Monday night's broadcast of the exhibition game between the LSU Tigers and the University of Arkansas-Monticello.
The game is set for 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and admission for the contest is free of charge. Jim Hawthorne will handle the play-by-play duties and will be joined again this year by analyst Ricky Blanton and long-time host of the broadcasts Kevin Ford. Air time is 6:30 p.m.
The move back to 98.1 for all games and the weekly Johnny Jones coach's radio show (which begins Nov. 19) will air on the home of LSU football and baseball.
"We are thrilled to move LSU Basketball back to the Eagle 98.1 this season," said Gordy Rush, the vice-president and general manager of Guaranty Broadcasting, who also handles sideline commentary on the football network. "With the excitement surrounding the return of Coach Johnny Jones, the timing is perfect to bring basketball back to the radio station that is known as the home of LSU Sports in Baton Rouge, Eagle 98.1."
LSU opens the 2012-13 seasons officially and the Johnny Jones era on Friday, Nov. 9, against UC Santa Barbara, who advanced to post-season play last year. Game time is 7 p.m. in the Maravich Assembly Center and tickets are available at LSUtix.net.
