Stringer Named LSWA Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE - The road player of Andre Stringer of LSU and back-to-back 20-plus performances for Whitney Bibbins of Tulane earned the pair Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honors.

Stringer had 19 points in a road win at UC Irvine and then had 20 points with six treys in the Tigers game at Marquette. Bibbins had a career-high 25 points against Louisiana-Lafayette and 23 points in a win over North Texas.

MEN
ANDRE STRINGER -- LSU - G, Jr., Jackson, Miss.
At UC Irvine (W, 66-60) - 19 points, 2 assists, 0 turnovers, 7-14 FG, 3-8 3FG, 2-3 FT, 32 minutes;
At Marquette (L, 80-84) - 20 points, 2 reb, 2 ast, 2 turnover, 3 stls, 6-12 FG, 6-10 3FG, 2-2 FT, 34 minutes; Two games 39 points (19.5), 2 reb, 4 ast, 2 turnovers, 3 steals, 13-26 FG, 9-18 3FG, 4-5 FT, 66 minutes ... Kept LSU in front of UC Irvine despite repeated attempts to come back by the Anteaters to give LSU its first road win of the season ... Helped LSU rally from 21 points down to eventually take a brief second half lead at Marquette .... 2nd highest scoring game of career ... Career high in three pointers ... Most three-pointers in a game since Marcus Thornton his 6 treys for LSU vs. Florida, Feb. 24, 2009.

WOMEN
WHITNEY BIBBINS - Tulane
Averaged a team-best 24.0 points per game and shot 54.3 percent from the field during Tulane's 1-1 week...chipped in with 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per outing as well...proved to be a workhorse for the team, averaging 34.5 minutes per game...making her first start of the season on Wednesday against UL-Lafayette, scored a career-high 25 points after sinking 9-of-18 field goals and 7-of-9 free throws...added a pair of blocks, two steals and an assist vs. the Ragin' Cajuns...followed that up with 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and a 3-for-3 performance from the free throw line in Saturday's win over North Texas...added seven assists, two steals and a pair of assists ... Tulane lost to Louisiana-Lafayette 65-64 in overtime and defeated North Texas, 73-62.
