BATON ROUGE - LSU volleyball's incoming recruiting class for the 2012 season garnered a No. 29 national ranking Thursday as PrepVolleyball.com released its top recruiting classes.

The Tigers inked Khourtni Fears [6-2, MB, Bellaire Texas], Jackie Gerig [5-11, S, Towanda, Ill.], Cati Leak [6-1, OH, Guntersville, Ala.] and Katie Lindelow [6-0, OH, Mandeville, La] to National Letters of Intent during the November and April signing periods.

The freshman trio of Fears, Leak and Lindelow were all ranked among PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces Top 100 in addition to the 2011-12 AVCA Under Armour High School All-America Watch List. Gerig will join the Tigers as a junior after two NJCAA All-America seasons as a setter at Blinn College in Texas.

Comments from PrepVolleyball.com's John Tawa on the class ...

LSU's incoming freshman class may be small in size, but all three members ranked among the Top 100 Senior Aces and are poised to make an impact on the Tigers for the 2012 season. Fears, who checked in at No. 27 in the Senior Aces, will continue LSU's tradition of fast and dynamic middles. She oozes athleticism. Leak is a powerful attacker who is well-balanced in all phases of the game and can play any position on the court. She led Alabama's Guntersville High to three consecutive Class 4A championships en route to 2010 and 2011 Gatorade State Player of the Year honors. Lindelow is a physical, six-rotation player who is a true competitor and one of the best ever from the state of Louisiana. How much she contributes next fall will depend upon how quickly she can recover from an ACL tear late in the 2011 high school season. Couple this trio with the signing of Jackie Gerig, a two-time NJCAA All-American setter from Blinn College in Texas, and the Tigers are certain to have successful seasons ahead.

LSU has strung together seven consecutive SEC Western Division titles highlighted by the overall league championship in 2009. It's the second longest streak in SEC history, only behind Florida's 14-year run on top of the SEC's Eastern Division from 1995-2008.

The Tigers have garnered a 159-55 record, secured six NCAA Tournament appearances and notched 24 All-SEC selections since 2005.
