BATON ROUGE - The LSU volleyball program received a National Letter of Intent from Briana Holman to continue her career with the Tigers Friday as announced by head coach Fran Flory.

Holman will join the Tigers as a freshman for the 2013 season. She was listed on PrepVolleyball.com's Class of 2013 Top 50 recruits as a junior in addition to being ranked No. 32 among PrepVolleyball.com's Class of 2013 Senior Aces.

"We're extremely excited and absolutely thrilled to have Briana join the LSU volleyball family," head coach Fran Flory said. "She is a tremendous athlete and a high-flier. Her ability to play above the net will afford her the chance to be a special player. We're super excited about what she brings to our program. She'll have the ability to impact play and be a terminating threat both on offense and defense. She can hit every offensive tempo set which is wonderful because we can at multiple positions. That versatility will allow her to fit immediately into our offensive system."

Holman [Desoto, Texas], a 6-1 middle blocker from Cedar Hill High School in Texas, has earned multiple District 7-5A selections during her prep career which includes the District 7-5A MVP in 2012. She led her high school team to the 2012 district championship as her team advanced past the first round of the area playoffs for the first time in school history.

Holman has played club volleyball for Madfrog Volleyball Club but will play for Skyline Volleyball Club during the spring of 2013. Off the court, she is involved in the National Junior Honor Society. She intends to major in pre-med/biology at LSU.

From PrepVolleyball's 2013 Senior Aces
"Holman is a high-flying ultra-athletic middle blocker with the ability to soar through the air and terminate the ball at its highest point. A long time basketball player, Holman plays high above the net around 10-5, but has barely scratched the surface of her future potential. She is an extremely physical, tough-nosed player who plays with a massive, penetrating block. With additional experience, Holman will be a threat both offensively and defensively with her natural strength and rare athleticism."

LSU moves into the second leg of four-match road swing Friday to face SEC leader and No. 16 Florida. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT from the Stephen C. O'Connell Center, and a free audio webcast for Friday's match is available inside the Geaux Zone at LSUsports.net/live.
