DEFENSIVE TACKLE ANTHONY JOHNSON
On a young LSU defense …
“We have a young defensive backfield, and they’re doing a wonderful job. Tre’Davious White is probably playing the best football out of any defensive back right now. Jalen Mills is probably the hardest hitter at cornerback in the country; he’s coming down and making a whole lot of plays. Honestly, as the season keeps going on, I think everyone is starting to get on the same page. We played selflessly as a defense (against Florida). Everybody was in it for one another, and that’s why we got so much accomplished this past week.”
DEFENSIVE TACKLE EGO FERGUSON
On defensive end Danielle Hunter …
“He had a great game. That’s one of the best games I’ve ever seen him play. He loosened up finally, and he didn’t have too many worries. He just stopped thinking and played. You see that he can be one of the best out there.”
On the upcoming Ole Miss game …
“I feel like we will use this game in Florida as a stepping stone. We have to improve at this game here and keep that intensity up, and we realize that. Whenever everyone’s on the same page, it’s harder to score on our defense. I feel like this week will be a good test for us, but it’s going to show how well our defense improved from last week.”
CORNERBACK JALEN MILLS
On improvements on defense and preparing for Ole Miss …
“Guys are really playing with the attitude and the swagger that’s been played here from the past years. Guys are really stepping up and playing their role. We always preach that we haven’t played our best game yet. We have practice today, and we’re going to go over film. We’re going to be looking forward to Ole Miss this week. We know those guys are going to be ready to play football. That’s what we have this whole week of preparation for, so we should be ready to play on Saturday.”
OFFENSIVE TACKLE LA’EL COLLINS
On improvements on the offensive line …
“As offensive linemen, we have to work and work and work to get better. Every week, we focus on trying to get better. We’re coming out, and we’re (meshing) even more. I think it’s really paying off from all the hard work.”
