BATON ROUGE -- LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his performance against Kentucky on Saturday.
Montgomery led the LSU defense with six total tackles, two for losses, including 1.5 sacks, in the Tigers' 35-7 win against Kentucky.
He keyed an LSU defense that held Kentucky to just 155 total yards, 70 of which came after LSU had built a 35-0 lead late in the fourth quarter. LSU held Kentucky to only 45 first half yards and just two completions in taking a 14-0 lead at halftime.
