ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 28th-ranked LSU men's tennis team could not hold on, falling to No. 31 Michigan at the Varsity Tennis Courts in Ann Arbor, Mich., Saturday.

LSU (3-2) looked to be in charge early, earning the doubles point with victories by both Roger Anderson and Stefan Szacinski, and Neal Skupski and James Turbervill.

In doubles, on court one, No. 28 Olivier Borsos and Chris Simpson got tripped up early by the 22nd-ranked Michigan duo of Evan King and Shaun Bernstein.

Meanwhile, Anderson and Szacinski kept it close, edging by Michigan's Barrett Franks and Alex Buzzi 8-6.

Skupski and Turbervill had no trouble keeping their win streak going, beating Alex Petrone and Michael Zhu 8-3, giving LSU the doubles point and the advantage, 1-0.

In singles play, the Tigers had a hard time adjusting to the indoor style of play, giving up three-straight before Turbervill took down Eli Brown in straight sets on court six.

Down 3-2, Szacinski battled hard, but could not hold, meeting defeat at the hands of Michigan's Franks, 6-4, 7-5.

With the match already decided, Skupski continued to battle against Bernstein, sending his match into a 6-6 tiebreaker. Skupski fought hard, but eventually fell 7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-6 (10), giving Michigan a 5-2 victory over the Tigers.

"We played good in doubles to get the point, but in singles we had a tough start," head coach Jeff Brown said. "The indoor style got to us early, and we couldn't make up the difference. They got us today. It has been a lot of travel and a lot of matches for us, and we are looking forward to a little break before coming back strong on Friday."

The Tigers will return to Baton Rouge to prepare for a double header with UNO and Tulane on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. CT at the W.T. Dub Robinson Stadium.
