BATON ROUGE - The LSU men's tennis program has signed Jordan Daigle, a sophomore from Lafayette, Louisiana, who spent his freshman year at the University of Virginia, head coach Jeff Brown announced Wednesday.
"Jordan was one of the top freshman in the nation last year, reaching No. 43 in singles," said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. "He will contribute immediately in the top part of our singles and doubles lineups. Jordan has high aspirations both athletically and academically, and we are eager to help him achieve these goals in his home state."
Daigle will join the team in August, and rounds out an incoming class featuring freshmen Simon Freund of Sweden and William Adkisson of Texas.
During the 2013-14 season, Daigle tallied a 19-5 overall singles record and defeated the No. 24 and No. 118 players in the country. Daigle finished the dual season 8-2 in singles and 8-4 in doubles while spending most of the season ranked and earning a varsity letter at Virginia.
Prior to signing with Virginia, Tennisrecruiting.net named Daigle the No. 10 player in 2013. Daigle experienced success in junior tennis, competing at the 2012 US Open Junior Championships and ranked No. 4 nationally in juniors and in the top 80 of the ITF junior world rankings.
