BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Harrison Kennedy was named to the 2014 SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team for his dedication to helping others off the court, the conference announced Tuesday.
Kennedy has volunteered with Thanksgiving with the Tigers, which is an event where each LSU athletics team adopts an underprivileged child for the holidays and welcomes the child along with his or her family to campus for a Thanksgiving style meal served by the student-athletes and games, activities and gift exchanges.
Kennedy has also served as a volunteer for the Big Buddy Fishing Day and LSU’s Halloween BOOzar event, which is an event that provides local children with a safe and fun Halloween experience playing games, getting candy and autographs and interacting with their favorite LSU student-athletes.
Kennedy is also a Big Buddy Day and Special Olympics volunteer and has spent time visiting with patients at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.
The LSU men’s tennis team will face Arkansas in the first round of the 2014 SEC tournament on Wednesday in Nashville at 11 a.m. CT.
