Soccer Coaching Staff
Megan Kinneman earned the reputation as one of the leading goalkeepers in the history of the LSU Soccer program during an outstanding collegiate career spanning four seasons from 2010-13.
A member of the Tigers’ 2011 squad that finished as the SEC runner-up en route to the NCAA Tournament that fall, Kinneman remains LSU’s school-record holder with 284 career saves in her time in Baton Rouge, as well as second in the record books with 17 shutouts and third with 24 career wins.
She was the embodiment of a student-athlete while at LSU, receiving SEC All-Freshman Team, SEC All-Tournament Team and SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors with her performance on the field and SEC Community Service Team and SEC Academic Honor Roll selections with her efforts in the classroom and community.
Kinneman is back on the sidelines and ready to impact the program once again as an assistant coach on Brian Lee’s staff for the 2017 season. She returns to her alma mater after serving one year as an assistant coach and goalkeepers coach at UNC-Greensboro where she coached Chloe Buehler to Second-Team All-Southern Conference honors during her junior season in 2016.
“You could always see that Megan would make a great coach one day with the way she handled herself on and off the field as a student-athlete,” Lee said. “She has a very bright future as a coach. Her playing experience and time at UNCG has her ready to hit the ground running and help us starting this fall.”
Kinneman landed her first NCAA Division I coaching job following a two-year professional playing career that saw her suit up for the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League and Arna Bjornar FC in the Norwegian first division in 2014 and 2015.
She earned five call-ups to first-team matches in NWSL play as a member of the Dash between the 2014 and 2015 season, while she started between the posts for Arna Bjornar FC in the Toppserien league later in the summer and fall of 2015.
Kinneman has had an eye on coaching since her playing days at LSU when she coached the goalkeepers with the Catholic High School boys’ team in Baton Rouge from 2012-14. She has also been on staff at the Dynasty Goalkeeping Camp in Raleigh, North Carolina, since 2011 while also coaching with the Houston Dynamo/Dash Academy Goalkeeper Program during her time with the Dash in 2014 and 2015.
Kinneman graduated from LSU in December 2013 with a degree in sport administration with a concentration in sport commerce and a minor in business. She has been certified by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with the NSCAA National Diploma and NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma as well as the USSF “E” License by the U.S. Soccer Federation.
