Women's Tennis Advances in ITA Fall Championships

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Members of the LSU women’s tennis team competed in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex on Wednesday.  
Sophomore Eden Richardson started the tournament with a hard fought win over South Carolina’s Paige Cline. The No. 38 singles player in the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings secured the victory in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
Richardson went on to join senior Jessica Golovin in the afternoon where the No. 7 ranked duo faced Sofya Golubovskaya and Sofya Treshcheva. The Tiger tandem defeated the Syracuse pair, 6-2,7-6(5), 11-9.
The Lady Tigers will move on to the second rounds, beginning Thursday.
Richardson will face Jessica Failla of Pepperdine in singles play, then will join Golovin to compete in doubles against Marie-Alexandre Leduc and Fernanda Navarro of Clemson.
