PARRISH, Fla. - The seventh-ranked LSU women's golf team after a rare 36-hole day of golf, finds itself in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Central District Invitational, eight shots out of first place.

Senior Tessa Teachman and sophomore Austin Ernst had strong opening rounds that kept them in the top 10 at the end of the day going into Tuesday's final round of play.

Teachman opened with a 3-under 69 and then posted 3-over75 in the afternoon to stand at even par 144, in a tie for fourth, six shots out of the lead of Chirapat Jao-Javanil of Oklahoma who had rounds of 68 and 70 for a 6-under 138 and a five shot lead. Ernst opened with a 4-under 68 and then came home with a 5-over 77 to stand at 1-over 145 and that is good enough for a tie for seventh in the field of 75.

LSU was tied for the team lead after the first round as both LSU and Oklahoma posted 3-over 291 in the morning round at the River Wilderness Golf Club.

Oklahoma is the leader after 36 holes at 8-over 584 (291-293), two shots better than TCU at 10-over 586 (297-289). Vanderbilt is third at 11-over 587 with Michigan State in fourth directly in front of LSU at 13-over 589. LSU is at 16-over 592 (291-301), four shots ahead of Iowa State and North Carolina.
