Pfyffer, Luht Set For International Competition

Baton Rouge – Luca Pfyffer and Karl Luht are set to make the move overseas to compete for their countries on the international stage. Pfyffer will compete in the World University Games in Napoli, Italy, for Switzerland starting on July 4 and running through July 10. Luht will swim in the World Swimming Championships in Gwangju, Korea, for Estonia July 21-28.

During the collegiate season, Pfyffer started off last year with a second-place finish in the 200-Yard Breaststroke against Navy and UConn with a time of 2:02.61. He won the 100-Yard Breaststroke on Day Two of the same meet with a time of 56.52. He won the 100-Yard Breaststroke against SMU and Loyola with a time of 56.45 and followed that performance up with a victory in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 1:51.71. At the 2019 SEC Championships, the rising-junior finished in 24th place in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 54.07 and touched the wall in 1:56.68 to finish in 13th place in the 200-Yard Breaststroke.

Luht started last season against Navy and UConn with a second place finish in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 20.95 and then followed that performance up with a win in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 44.98. He won the 100-Yard Backstroke against Florida with a time of 48.45 and won once again against SMU and Loyola in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 20.80. The rising-senior won the 100-Yard Backstroke against Incarnate Word and Delta State with a time of 46.16 and then won the same event against Texas A&M with a time of 47.89. At the 2019 SEC Championships, he finished in 16th place in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:35.11. He then set a school record in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 45.58 to win the ‘B’ Final. At the 2019 NCAA Championships, Luht finished in 21st place in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 45.70 and touched the wall in 43.72 in the 100-Yard Freestyle to finish in 40th place.
