Women's Golf Tied for 10th At SEC Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A pair of LSU underclassmen stepped up in Round 1 of the 2019 SEC Women’s Golf Championship to put the Tigers in a tie for 10th place with Missouri. Sophomore Kendall Griffin shot even par, while freshman Presley Baggett shot 2-over to lead the charge.

LSU started on the back nine where Griffin, making her first appearance in the SEC Championships, shot 1-under to start the round with a birdie on Hole No. 16. After the turn she hit the even mark after a bogey on Hole No. 3 and finished out the last six holes on par for a 72. Baggett birdied the first hole of her SEC Championship debut on the par-4 Hole No. 10, then bogeyed 11 and 15 to finish the back nine at 1-over. On the front nine, she moved to even with a birdie on par-4 No. 4 before hitting bogies on 6 and 8 to finish the round at 2-over 74.

The LSU veterans contributed the other two counting scores. Senior Kathleen Gallagher, making her fourth appearance in the SEC Championship, finished the first round at 4-over 76, while junior Monica Dibildox shot a 5-over 77. Rookie Alden Wallace shot an 83 in her SEC Championship debut. LSU shot 11-over 299.

LSU will be paired up with Missouri for Round 2 on Thursday, teeing off from Hole No. 10 at 8:20 a.m. LSU is battling for one of the top eight spots in the team standings to advance to the quarterfinals of match play on Saturday, April 20. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
