Terry Named SEC Runner of the Week
Asst. Communications Director
Baton Rouge, La. – Tyler Terry of the sixth-ranked LSU men’s track and field team has been named the SEC Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Terry, primarily a quarter miler, came out the blocks with a burst and used that to run a wind-aided time of 20.50 (+3.9) in the 200 meters at the Battle on the Bayou last weekend. It ranks second in the NCAA and first in the SEC in the event. The time also ranks 12th on the all-conditions world list for 2019 in the event. For Terry, it was his second time running the event outdoors on the collegiate level; he last ran the 200 meters during his freshman season (2017) at Hinds Community College.
Terry returned to the track just 30 minutes after his dazzling performance in the 200 meters and anchored the 4x400 meter relay to gold with a readout of 3:05.73 to close out the meet on top. This is the first time in his career that Terry has been named the SEC Runner of the Week.
Terry and the LSU track and field team are back in action this weekend in Miami, Fla., with the Hurricane Invitational.
