BATON ROUGE – The No. 25 ranked LSU men’s basketball team looks to keep momentum rolling in the right direction as it plays its first Wednesday night game of the conference season, hosting Georgia at 6 p.m. CT in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Tickets for the game are available during normal business hours at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office, online at LSUtix.net and beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the upper concourse ticket windows of the Maravich Center.

The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network (Roy Philpott, Mark Wise) and broadcast on the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network with the Voice of the Tigers Chris Blair and former LSU basketball coach John Brady (LSUsports.net/live; Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge is the flagship and in New Orleans the game will be on Hot 92.9 in New Orleans).

LSU has won seven straight games and the first four in conference to stand at 14-3 and 4-0 in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers for the first time since the week four poll is back in the AP Top 25 and will be looking to advance a 17-game win streak that dates back to last year.

Worsham: Changes Yield Wins for Connected Tigers

LSU is coming off an 89-67 win over South Carolina on Saturday at the Maravich Center in which six players were in double figures led by Naz Reid and Emmitt Williams with 15 each. Kavell Bigby-Williams, Tremont Waters and Ja'vonte Smart had 12 each and Marlon Taylor had 10. Williams had 13 rebounds and KBW grabbed 11. Waters had six assists.

LSU opened up a 48-28 lead at halftime and pushed the advantage to 33 after the first seven minutes of the second half.

Georgia is 9-8 and 1-4 in the league, having lost three straight to nationally-ranked Auburn and Kentucky, and then falling to Florida, 62-52, on Saturday in Stegeman Coliseum in Athens.

The Bulldogs are coach by first-year coach Tom Crean who came to Georgia after long stints at Marquette and Indiana. Excitement has built for the first-year coach and his program with seven sellouts to date, including the rematch of this game in February.

Georgia is led by Rayshaun Hammonds at 12.9 points per game and 6.5 rebounds a game. Nicolas Claxton is at 12.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks. Tyree Crump is also averaging in double figures at 10.1 a contest. Claxton is at 6-11, while Hammonds is 6-8 and both are sophomores.

Bigby-Williams became LSU’s first SEC honoree of the week, earning Player of the Week honors from the league for his performance at Ole Miss and against South Carolina. The senior forward averaged 13 points, 10.5 rebounds and had six blocks in the two wins, making 71.4 percent of his field goals (10-14) and 6-of-8 of his free throws.

He posted his first back-to-back double figure scoring and double doubles in the two games and now has five for the season.

LSU is expected to keep the same lineup it has used for the last five games with Bigby-Williams and Reid at forwards and the three-guard spots manned by Skylar Mays, Taylor and Waters.

The Tigers will be going for their ninth consecutive SEC win and their 18th straight at the Maravich Center which would tie for the second longest in the building’s 48 years of play.

“(Georgia poses) some challenges for us,” said LSU Coach Will Wade at his Monday media session. “They’ll pack their defense in. It’s a little different from South Carolina who extends the defense. It will be a bit different playing against them. We’ll be more packed in. They’re very long across the three four and the five. We’ll have to do a good job on the backboards. They killed us on the backboards last year. They have a lot of the same personnel back. We’ll have to do a better on the backboards than we did against them last year.”

The Tigers head back on the road after the Georgia game heading to Missouri (Jan. 26) and Texas A&M (Jan. 30) to conclude the month of January.
