BATON ROUGE – Former LSU running back Nick Brossette will make his final collegiate appearance on Saturday when he takes part in the East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Kickoff for the all-star contest is slated for 2 p.m. CT and will be televised on the NFL Network.
“It’s been a very productive week for me both on and off the field,” Brossette said on Friday afternoon. “I’ve talked to a lot of NFL scouts and personnel this week and they have told me that they’ve been impressed with what they’ve seen from me in practice.
“I’ve tried to use this week to show that I’m a complete back and that I can make the transition to the next level.”
Brossette, who will wear No. 5 for the West squad tomorrow, said he will start at running back. There are a total of three running backs on the West roster.
In 2018, Brossette ranked among the Southeastern Conference leaders rushing with 1,039 yards. He finished No. 3 in the league in rushing touchdowns with 14.
Brossette, who had three 100-yard rushing games as a senior, capped his career with 117 yards on a career-best 29 carries in LSU’s 40-32 win over Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl. The win over UCF propelled LSU to a 10-3 overall record and a No. 6 final ranking.
Named a permanent team captain for LSU following the 2018 regular season, Brossette wrapped up his career with the Tigers with 1,350 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
