Lady Tigers Pack The PMAC Vs. No. 21/25 South Carolina
BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team will host No. 21/25 South Carolina in its annual Pack the PMAC Game on Sunday, January 13 at 4 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
All fans can get into Sunday’s game for $1. Also, when the gates open at 3 p.m., the first 1,000 fans will get an LSU women’s basketball t-shirt.
The Lady Tigers are 11-4 (2-1 SEC) on the season following Thursday’s 55-41 win at Ole Miss. Junior Ayana Mitchell led all scorers with 16 points, while senior Shanice Norton added 11 and sophomore Khayla Pointer scored 10.
Mitchell is shooting 58.7 percent from the field and grabbing 9.9 rebounds per game to rank fourth in the SEC. She ranks 18th in the league with 13.6 points per game and 10th in steals at 1.9 per game.
Pointer is second on the squad at 12.5 points per game. She also ranks fifth in the SEC with 5.0 assists per contest and is shooting 47.6 percent from the field.
Sophomore Faustine Aifuwa rounds out the trio of every-game starters and is averaging 8.7 points and 6.0 boards per game with 19 blocked shots.
LSU’s scoring defense is fifth in the nation and tops in the SEC by holding opponents to 51.4 points per game. The Lady Tigers’ field goal defense is fifth in the league at 36.5 percent while their 3-point shooting defense is fourth at 27.7 percent.
South Carolina is 11-4 and 3-0 on the season with wins over Texas A&M, Alabama and Florida. The Gamecocks are led by junior guard Te’a Cooper with 11.9 points per game. There are three additional players averaging over 9.0 points per game – Alexis Jennings (9.9), Tyasha Harris (9.8) and Mikiah Herbert Harrigan (9.3). Jennings, Herbert Harrigan and LeLe Grissett are the lead rebounders on the squad with 5.6, 5.5 and 5.3 boards per game.
This will be the 35th meeting between the schools. The Lady Tigers hold a 22-12 lead in the series. The Gamecocks won last year’s only meeting, 57-48, in Columbia on Feb. 22. LSU is looking to stop an eight-game losing streak to Sough Carolina.
Patrick Wright and Jeff Palermo will call the game on the LSU Sports Radio Network. Fans can listen in Baton Rouge on Talk 107.3 FM and audio broadcasts are available online at LSUSports.net/live. Affiliate KZKR (Jonesville, Louisiana) will also carry the game.

LSU continues the homestand on Thursday, January 17 against No 16 Kentucky. It will be LSU’s annual We Back Pat game. It is an opportunity to bring awareness to the need for research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and other associated diseases. Geaux Clear at the PMAC
Fans are reminded that the Geaux Clear Policy will be in effect for all LSU women’s basketball home games. Diaper bags must be clear and no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”. Backpacks, including drawstring/synch bags are strictly prohibited.
Fans with medically-necessary items will be allowed to enter the PMAC following a more thorough search at the designated inspection points. The lower level inspection will take place at the southeast corner entrance near the elevator and upper level inspection is available at the S concourse near the Ticket Office.
