Tigers Wrap up Georgia Diving Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. -- The LSU Tigers had three Top-10 finishers on the platform at the Georgia Diving Invitational. Matthew Phillip finished in eighth place for the men. Aimee Wilson and Lizzie Cui finished seventh and ninth, respectively with their performances on the platform.
“Although today was not our strongest day, we still had some good performances and I’m happy with the overall results of the Georgia Invitational,” said LSU diving head coach Doug Shaffer. “It is always great to compete in a state of the art facility hosted by a staff that runs a first-rate competition. We now set our target and timeline and all of our training and preparation towards returning to Athens for the SEC Championships and NCAA Regionals and Championships.”
Phillip dove to a score of 292.30 to finish in eighth place. This was the third time Phillip has competed on platform this season and he has finished in the top-10 every time.
Dakota Hurbis finished in 15thplace, diving to a score of 257.75.
On the women’s side, Wilson dove to a score of 235.70 to finish in seventh place. Wilson averaged a 47.14 over her five dives in the event.
Cui finished in ninth place after she earned a 224.90. Cui finished in the top-10 in every event she competed in throughout the Invitational.
Jolie Blodgett finished in 20thplace, diving to a score of 178.75.
The LSU diving team will be back in action on Saturday, January 12 as the Tigers will play host to Incarnate Word and Delta State for Senior Day.
