Soccer Named BASF Team of the Month

Baton Rouge, La. – The No. 19 LSU soccer team is the recipient of the BASF Team Chemistry MVP Award for the month of October.
The Tigers did not lose a contest in regulation during the month of October that saw them go 5-2-1. Their terrific play in the month of October helped them lock up the No. 7 seed in the SEC Tournament down the closing stretch of regular season play which resulted in the most epic SEC Tournament run the conference has ever seen. The Tigers reeled off two wins to go along with two shootout victories to claim their first SEC Tournament title in program history. They became the first team in SEC history to win the league tournament after playing in the first round. LSU knocked off Arkansas in the championship match with a 4-1 victory in penalty kicks. The Tigers were able to avenge their only two overtime losses from the month of October with penalty kick victories over Tennessee (7-6) in the semifinals and Arkansas (4-1) in the finals at the SEC Tournament.
The month of October featured wins over Missouri, Ole Miss, No. 8 South Carolina, Mississippi State and Missouri. The Tigers (13-6-3) now turn their focus towards Boston University as they will take on the Terriers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m.
