BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team will host NAIA opponent Loyola University (New Orleans) in an exhibition game at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 2 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Admission to the game is free and doors will open one hour prior to tipoff at 5 p.m.

Head coach Nikki Fargas will be looking to preseason All-SEC Second Team selection Ayana Mitchell to lead the 2018-19 squad along with returning starters Faustine Aifuwa, Jaelyn Richard-Harris and Khayla Pointer.

“I am really excited about this upcoming season,” said Fargas at today’s Tipoff Luncheon at L’Auberge. “We’ve got a great schedule that gets going on Tuesday night. You are going to see a tough-nosed, defensive team this season. That is why we are in every game.”

Mitchell, a junior forward, is the top returning scorer and rebounder for the Lady Tigers. She averaged 11.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while shooting a team-leading 55.6 percent from the field last season. Aifuwa, a sophomore post player, averaged 5.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and was the second-best field goal shooter last season at 43.8 percent.

Richard-Harris, a junior, and Pointer, a sophomore, split the point guard position last season. Both are among the top returning free throw and three-point shooters on the team.  Pointer contributed 66 assists and 26 steals over the season, while Richard-Harris dished out 48 assists and grabbed 22 steals last year.

Loyola, which is already 0-1 on the season and played an exhibition against Tulane, was ranked No. 17 in the NAIA Division I coaches preseason poll in late October. Head coach Kellie Kennedy’s program reached the Round of 16 for the third time in program history last season.

Patrick Wright will call the game on the LSU Radio Network Friday night. Wright is in his 29th season as the “Voice of the Lady Tigers”. Fans can listen on 107.3 FM and audio broadcasts are available online at
