Men's Golf Shoots 2-Under 286 at Tavistock Collegiate

Windermere, Fla. – Led by sophomore Trey Winstead, the 25th-ranked LSU men’s golf team moved up three spots in the team standings on Monday at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational. The Tigers shot a 2-under par 286 at the Isleworth Golf Club which ranked as the third best team round of the day.
The Tigers are currently in sole possession of eighth place with a two-day total of 2-over par 578 (292-286) in the 15-team tournament. No. 13 Vanderbilt leads the tournament at 18-under par, and Will Gordon (Vanderbilt) is the individual clubhouse leader with a 10-under par 134 (64-70).
Winstead improved his positioning on the individual leaderboard by 32 spots with a 3-under par 69 on Monday. Winstead played the first eight holes in even par fashion (two birdies, four pars, two bogeys) before he closed out the final 10 holes with three birdies and seven pars. Winstead is in a tie for 17th place (75-69-144) after 36 holes.
Philip Barbaree was the only other Tiger to finish under par on the second day of play; the junior from Shreveport, La., fired a 1-under par 71 that featured five birdies. Barbaree will enter the final round in a tie for 27th place (75-71-146). Michael Sanders followed up his day one tally of 3-under par 69 with a 2-over par 74 in round two. After playing the first nine holes at a 2-over par clip, Sanders settled in and parred the final nine holes of his round; Sanders is in a tie for 14th.
LSU will tee off on Tuesday at 7 a.m. CT on Tuesday for the final 18 holes. Barber goes off first and he will be followed by Gagne, Barbaree, Winstead and Sanders in 10-minute intervals.
