BATON ROUGE – Members of the LSU swimming and diving team continued to represent the Tigers abroad as incoming freshman diver Anne Tuxen and junior Karl Luht recently competed at the European Championships. Meanwhile, fellow freshman diver Aimee Wilson also wrapped up competition at the Canadian Senior Nationals.

Tuxen represented her native Norway at this year’s European Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland. The freshman had an impressive showing, earning three top-10 finishes at the competition.

Anne teamed up with her sister, Helle, to finish sixth overall in the Synchronized 10-meter Platform and eighth overall in the Synchronized 3-meter Springboard, scoring 240.96 and 242.88, respectively.

Tuxen also dove to a score of 215.00 on 10-meter platform to claim 10th overall.

Incoming diver Aimee Wilson competed at the Canadian Senior Nationals and impressed, taking silver on both 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.

“Anne and Aimee had fantastic performances over the summer,” said LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer. “The European championships where Anne was a finalist showcases Europe’s best talent and Aimee finished her summer with two silver medal performances at the Canadian National Championships . Competing at this elite level is a great experience. I’m proud of their accomplishments and glad to have them in Baton Rouge beginning their freshman years.”

Junior swimmer Karl Luht competed in four events for Estonia at the European Championships as well.

“I think it’s great for Karl to gain some international experience,” said LSU swimming coach Dave Geyer. “This summer he made some strides in his development in long-course swimming in terms of his goals for the 2020 Olympics. He went and swam three best times and to step up at this level and perform is what we were looking for.”

Hailing from Tallinn, the junior was part of the 4x100 mixed medley relay team that took seventh in heat two and 13th overall.

Luht also swam the 50-meter backstroke, 100-meter backstroke, and 50-meter freestyle, finishing 22nd, 31st, and 49th overall, respectively.

Sophomore swimmer Luca Pfyffer is currently out of the country representing his native Switzerland at the International Military Sports Council (CISM) Military World Games in Samara, Russia.
