“This is huge for Juan,” said LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer. “Winning on the international stage is an outstanding feat and bodes well for Juan, Mexico and his aspiration to compete in Tokyo (Olympics in 2020).”

On July 8 at the FINA Diving Grand Prix No. 3 event in Bolzano, Italy, Celaya-Hernandez teamed up with fellow Mexican Yahel Castillo to take silver in the men’s 3-meter synchronized event.
