Priessman Named SEC Specialist of the Week
Assistant Communications Director
BATON ROUGE – Junior Lexie Priessman has been named the Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Priessman, who also earned the honor earlier this year, posted a 9.975 in the fifth spot of LSU’s bars lineup to tie her career high and win the title. The Cincinnati, Ohio native won her 12th career bars title for 10th in school history.
Priessman was a part of a bars squad that posted a 49.575 for the fifth-highest score in school history. LSU is one of four teams in the nation to score a 49.575 or higher on bars this season and the squad has done it three times in 2018.
LSU gymnasts have combined to earn 13 SEC weekly honors in 2018 with the top award going to a Tiger in eight of 10 weeks. Sarah Finnegan has been named the gymnast of the week four times, senior Myia Hambrick has also earned the top honor in the conference three times and Kennedi Edney earned it once. Sami Durante and Christina Desiderio have each been named the freshman of the week. Erin Macadaeg and Lexie Priessman were also named the specialist of the week earlier this year.
The Tigers, the 2018 SEC regular season champions, own a 14-1 record overall and are ranked second nationally. LSU returns for the final meet of the regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday against Arizona inside the Maravich Center.
