Softball Plays Host to WKU Tuesday

BATON ROUGE – The eighth-ranked LSU softball team will take a break from SEC action and play host to WKU Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Tiger Park.
The game will be available on SECN+ and through the WatchESPN app. Lyn Rollins and Yvette Girouard will be on the call. Live stats will also be available at LSUStats.com.

>> That last time the two teams met was in the Easton Tiger Classic in 2006 in Baton Rouge. LSU claimed a 10-0 victory in six innings on the second day of the tournament and then put together a 3-1 victory over the Hilltoppers the next day.
LSU comes into the matchup with a 22-2 overall record and an 18-0 record at Tiger Park. Amanda Doyle continues to lead the offense with a .435 batting average. Carley Hoover and Allie Walljasper picked up victories over the weekend and are both 9-1 on the year. Over last weekend, the pitchers combined for 29 strikeouts in 28 innings of work and held Auburn to a .165 batting average. LSU is 22-0 on the year when allowing two runs or less.
WKU comes into the game with a 17-7 overall record. The Hilltoppers opened up Conference USA last weekend and claimed the opening series over Southern Miss, winning the first two games of the series. Paige Carter leads the Hilltoppers with a .403 average. She has 10 extra base hits, including three home runs. In the circle, Kelsey Aikey is leading the way with a 2.29 ERA and a 5-2 record. Shelby Nunn has pitched the most innings and owns a team-leading 11-4 record. In 80 innings of work, she has tallied 62 strikeouts.
What’s On Deck
Following the midweek matchup, LSU will be on the road for an SEC series at No. 23 Kentucky. The games will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday and will air on SEC Network Saturday and Monday and ESPNU on Sunday.
