Men's Golf Set to Play at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C – The No. 12-ranked LSU men’s golf team is traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to compete in the 17th annual General Hackler Championship.
Coastal Carolina will play host to 15 teams as part of the two-day, 54-hole tournament that runs through Sunday. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, March 10 in continuous play with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round will take place on Sunday, March 11. The tournament will be held on the Dunes Golf & Beach Club as a par-72 that will play 7233 yards.
The Tigers will look to have a strong tournament after placing fourth at The Prestige two weeks ago. LSU finished third at the General Hackler last year.
LSU is the third-highest ranked team in the field in this week’s Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.
Other top-25 teams in the field this week include No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 8 Georgia, and No. 23 North Florida, while No. 31 NC State, No. 32 Kent State, and No. 38 Kentucky are all in the top 50. Other teams in the field include Virginia, Liberty, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Coastal Caroline, and Virginia Tech.
The Tigers look to keep things rolling with the same spring lineup. Juniors Luis Gagne and Nathan Jeansonne, sophomore Philip Barbaree and freshmen Jacob Bergeron and Trey Winstead will all compete at the General Hackler.
Junior All-American Gagne is looking to keep firing on all cylinders after finishing third at The Prestige. Barbaree had a solid tournament as well finishing tied for 18th.
Freshmen Bergeron and Winstead each contributed at The Prestige, tying for 21st, while Jeansonne finished in a tie for 57th.
