Women's Basketball Hosts Sam Houston Before SEC Play
BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team (7-3) brings a five-game win streak to the Maravich Center on Wednesday, Dec. 27 against Sam Houston State. Game time for the final non-conference game of the regular season is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
Wednesday’s game will be televised on SEC Network Plus, and broadcast worldwide on the LSU Sports Radio Network and locally in Baton Rouge on flagship station Talk 107.3 FM. Links to audio, video and live stats are available at LSUSports.net.
Before the game, LSU is hosting a Winter Wonderland in front of the Maravich Center. Fans are encouraged to come out around 5 p.m. to participate in a snowman-building contest. It is also Youth Basketball Night with the Lady Tigers. Youth teams can purchase group packages through the LSU Ticket office and Lady Tiger Camp participants are eligible for $2 tickets into the game. The giveaway is a Mike the Tiger Snow Globe.
This will be the sixth meeting between LSU and Sam Houston State (3-5). The Lady Tigers’ hold the series lead, 5-0 with the last meeting occurring on Dec. 14, 2016, a 89-41 victory. The Bearkats have one common opponents with LSU this season – Arkansas.
During the current 5-game win streak, the Lady Tigers are out-scoring their opponents by a +15.4 average margin and winning the fourth quarter 98-65. Defensively, LSU is averaging 10.2 steals per game while opponents are only taking the ball away from the Lady Tigers 5.4 time per game.
Overall, junior Chloe Jackson is leading the team with a 15.8 scoring average, followed by senior Raigyne Louis with 15.6 points per game. Jackson recorded her third season-high game of 23 points at Little Rock on Dec. 20. It was the second time in three games that she has scored 20 or more points in a game.
Head coach Nikki Fargas made a switch in the starting lineup on Nov. 30 at Texas Tech to provide a stronger defensive presence out of the gate. Along with regular starters Louis, Jackson and Ayana Mitchell, Shanice Norton and Jaelyn Richard-Harris are getting the Lady Tigers into the game quickly and holding opponents to 50 or fewer points in the last four outings.
The Lady Tigers begin SEC action on Sunday, Dec. 31 by hosting Vanderbilt at the Maravich Center. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be televised on the SEC Network. Melissa Lee and Nell Fortner will call the game, with Patrick Wright calling the action for the worldwide radio audience on the LSU Sports Radio Network.

What’s New This Season at the PMAC
Fans are reminded that the Geaux Clear Policy will be in effect for all LSU women’s basketball home games. An change to the policy is the inclusion of diaper bags. Diaper bags must be clear and no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”. Backpacks, including drawstring/synch bags are strictly prohibited.
Fans with medically-necessary items will be allowed to enter the PMAC following a more thorough search at the designated inspection points. The lower level inspection will take place at the southeast corner entrance near the elevator and upper level inspection is available at the S concourse near the Ticket Office.
