Jones Signs NLI To Join LSU Women's Basketball Team
BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s basketball coach Nikki Fargas announced today the signing of Monet Jones to a Nation Letter of Intent to join the Lady Tigers program for the 2018-19 season.
“We are thrilled to have Monet Jones join the Lady Tiger family,” said Fargas. “Monet will blend well with our up-tempo, fast-paced offensive system. She brings size and athleticism to our post game which will complement the players we will have returning next season.”
Jones is a 6-2 post player from Missouri City, Texas. She plays for Lawrence E. Elkins High School and club ball for AD Elite, the same AAU team as current LSU guard Jaelyn Richard-Harris. Jones is ranked No. 21 at the forward position by HoopGurlz for the Class of 2018.
As a junior, Jones averaged 22.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists for the Knights. She is a first team all-district player in basketball and volleyball, and was named the basketball Team MVP last season.
“Monet’s ability to handle the ball and see the floor as a playmaker is another added dimension to our team. Not only does she bring a post presence in the paint, but also has the ability to go to her face-up game. Defensively, she will be an aggressive presence on the floor. We look forward to Monet excelling on the court and in the classroom as a Lady Tiger.”
