Gnat Featured in LSU Alumni Sports Legend Series

BATON ROUGE – Ashleigh Gnat, the 2017 NCAA Floor Exercise champion and five-time Southeastern Conference champion, will be the featured guest at the LSU Alumni Association’s Sports Legend series at 10:30 a.m. Saturday inside the Lod Cook Hotel on campus.

Baton Rouge talk show host Jim Engster will interview Gnat about her storied her career in an event that is free and open to the public. It kicks off a full day of events on campus in preparation for the LSU football game against Auburn. Gnat and the rest of the LSU gymnastics team will also be presented on the field during the first quarter of the game.

Gnat accomplished one of the most successful four-year careers in LSU gymnastics history capped by the 2017 NCAA Championships in April when she helped lead the Tigers to an NCAA National Runner-Up finish. During her time at LSU, Gnat was a 17-time All-American, two-time SEC Specialist of the Year and two-time Central Region Gymnast of the Year.

The LSU alumna earned the highest distinction in the sport as the winner of the 2017 AAI Award, which is the sport’s equivalent to the Heisman Trophy. Gnat was a Honda Award finalist, the 2017 Corbett Award winner and LSU’s nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Since graduation, Gnat has transitioned to a member of the LSU gymnastics staff as a graduate assistant.
