Foster, Lavender Advance to Doubles Finals
Communications Student Assistant
WACO, Texas – Senior Ryann Foster and freshman Elyse Lavender will represent the LSU women’s tennis team in the final round of doubles at the H-E-B Invitational after advancing past the semifinal round at the Hurd Tennis Center Saturday.
Foster and Lavender showed tremendous resiliency against Jessica Hinojosa Gomez and Livia Kraus, taking down the Baylor pair on their home court in a thrilling 8-7(2) tiebreak that propelled the Tiger duo to Sunday’s finals.
In singles, Richardson defeated TCU’s Meredith Roberts in three sets, storming back from an early 6-3 first-set deficit to take the next two sets and advance to the quarterfinal round.
In the quarterfinals, Richardson took the first set against Baylor’s Livia Kraus 6-4, but her opponent took advantage of the next two sets and ended the freshman’s singles run.
Tyler’s Tamara Arnold and No. 85 Tsveta Dimitrova of Houston defeated No. 64 Foster and Golovin, respectively, in the singles round of 16.
Foster and Lavender will take the court Sunday at 9 a.m. CT for the final doubles match of the tournament, available to stream live at www.baylorbears.com.
