COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Freshman Eric Coston paced the Tigers’ effort this morning with an eighth-place finish in the Texas A&M Invitational. This marks Coston’s third appearance in the Top 15 this season. Junior Ersula Farrow led the women’s team, earning 13th place individually.

Farrow led the women to a sixth-place team finish as the Lady Tigers finished with 146 points. Host Texas A&M won the women’s 6k race with 50 points. The Lady Tigers placed four runners in the Top 35.

Head Coach Mark Rinker was pleased with both team’s performances.

“I’m really proud of both our men and women,” Rinker noted. “Our men’s team on average was 25 seconds faster than last year, and our women were 15 seconds faster. That is just credit to how hard the student-athletes are working.”

The men’s team placed ninth out of 18 teams Saturday as they finished with 203 points. Similar to the women’s race, Texas A&M placed first, totaling 62 points in the 8k race.

For the Lady Tigers, Farrow recorded her fourth-straight Top 15 finish as she recorded a time of 21 minutes, 39.2 seconds. Junior Erika Lewis was the second Lady Tiger to finish. Lewis placed 20th, and she finished in 21:50.30.

Junior Hannah Bourque and freshman Alicia Stamey followed Lewis, finishing back-to-back in 33rd and 34th place respectively. Bourque recorded a time of 22:18.80, and Stamey finished in 22:21.10. Freshman Kristin Delgado was the fifth Lady Tiger to finish. She recorded a time of 23:06.90, placing 62nd.

Senior Rebecca Little and junior Monica Guillot finished next on the women’s side. Little and Guillot placed in 68th and 84th place and tallied respective times of 23:10.80 and 23:39.40.

Freshmen Isabella Hemb and Heather Cizek followed Guillot. They finished almost simultaneously as Hemb finished in 88th place at 23:43.8, and Cizek crossed the finish at 23:45.9, placing 89th. Sophomore Annie Jung closed out the efforts for the Lady Tigers, finishing in 115th at 24:57.00.

Rinker was impressed with the team performance on the women’s side.

“Ersula and Erika both ran big personal bests leading the women as they have done all year,” Rinker mentioned. “They have been tremendous week in and week out for the team. I was also really happy to see Alicia have a great race today, she came through for us today.”

On the men’s side, Coston led the charge, finishing in 24:17.30. Sophomore Harrison Martingayle followed Coston, recording a time of 24:44.20 as he placed 22nd.

Rinker gave high praise to his top two finishers for the men’s team Saturday morning.

“Eric had a real breakout race,” Rinker said. “Running 24 minutes, 17 seconds to finish eighth is a huge run for a freshman. I was really excited for Harrison as well for running a personal best. He really helped the team with his performance.”

Junior Dajour Braxton and senior DC Lipani were the third and fourth Tigers to finish. Braxton and Lipani earned 47th and 65th place, recording respective times of 25:07.50 and 25:27.30.

Seniors Daniel Tanner, Jack Wilkes and Bryan Stamey finished next for the Tigers. Tanner finished in 82nd place at 25:51.80, and Wilkes recorded a time of 26:42.30, finishing in 112th place. Stamey placed 118th and crossed the finish in 26:51.90.
