Tigers Named to Top Summer League Prospects Lists

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Five LSU players have been named to the Baseball America magazine Top Summer Leagues Prospects lists. The magazine compiled top prospects lists for the 18 college summer leagues and USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team.

LSU sophomore outfielder Zach Watson was named the No. 1 prospect in the Northwoods League; freshman outfielder Daniel Cabrera is listed as the No. 2 prospect in the Cal Ripken League; junior catcher Hunter Feduccia was voted the No. 4 prospect in the Northwoods League; sophomore pitcher Zack Hess was recognized as the No. 10 prospect in the Cape Cod League; and freshman outfielder Nick Webre is listed as the No. 10 prospect in the Prospect League.

Watson, a product of Ruston, La., and LSU’s leading hitter last season,  produced impressive numbers at the plate this summer for the Rockford (Ill.) Rivets, batting .342 (13-for-38) with four doubles, two homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs.

Cabrera, a Baton Rouge product, batted .339 (42-for-124) in 32 games for the Gaithersburg (Md.) Giants, collecting seven doubles, three homers, 21 RBI, 22 runs and 11 steals.

Feduccia, a transfer from LSU-Eunice who was named a Northwoods League All-Star, was Watson’s teammate in Rockford and batted .348 (64-for-184) with 18 doubles, one triple, 41 RBI and 43 runs.

Hess, who recorded three saves at the College World Series for LSU, made three starts with pitch-count limits for the Bourne (Mass.) Braves of the Cape Cod League. The right-hander from Forest, Va.,  fired 10 strikeouts in 10.1 innings.

Webre, a Youngsville, La., product,  excelled this summer for the Danville (Ill.) Dans in the Prospect League, hitting .324 (58-for-179) with nine doubles, nine homers, 40 RBI, 47 runs and 20 stolen bases.
